William (Bill) is an elected member and Atlantic Regional Director of the CSPWC (Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour), a member of the TWSA(Transparent Watercolor Society of America) and the SCA(Societe Canadienne de l'Aquarelle). He has exhibited in watercolor exhibitions all over North America and has received numerous awards for his work. Here are some of his thoughts about his work and methods.
"Most of my work is done plein air or from life. The common denominator is light, which I feel is the key to capturing the spirit or essence of any subject. I consciously use design principles in all my work but react intuitively to my subject as well, particularly with regard to colour. My work is in a style of impressionistic realism and I only record what I feel is necessary to complement the design, eliminating as many details as possible. I work at my art every day and truly enjoy the process more than the product. I'm a student for life and am willing to change whatever I need to make my next work my best."
