Details
The day starts with a cup of coffee or tea and an introduction to your kit: how to use it and some ideas on how to work with your armature. I will discuss and demonstrate the proportions and where to bend your figure. You start by wrapping your armature with foil to give your figure form. Next you will cut your T-shirt into strips to cover your figure followed by wrapping it completely with the Medium saturated strips. Come lunchtime you will be able to place the figure on its base. While you have lunch your sculpture will dry and harden. The afternoon you will work on finishing: hair, clothing, draping, detailing and its final coating. Garden Spirits Medium hardens in a day but gets it full strength in a week.
At 4.00 o'clock you will be the proud creator of your own Garden Sculpture

What to Bring
Bring the following:
Roll of generic tin foil 50' in length. Do not bring double wide heavy duty tin foil. It is used to ‘flesh' out the wire armature and so needs to be pliable. The cheap stuff at Canadian Tire works perfectly.
Scissors
100% cotton t-shirts. One should be a solid colour, recommend white or grey, t-shirts as the base fabric, which is used to wrap the armature. The other can be a t-shirt that has any decoration, texture or colour on it - this one is used for draping the figure. This is where your wild creativity will go into overdrive. Go to the VV Boutique (aka Value Village) to find some inexpensively. If you have a sentimental t-shirt of someone you love, maybe even yourself, bring it to make a creation with real meaning for you.
Duct tape or masking tape to hold the foil wrap in place.
Go through your art supplies and bring anything that you can think of that you could use for decoration i.e. bits and pieces used on quilt art, cotton doilies that someone could use as a cape or hat or ?????, buttons, lace, beads, ribbon, wire, tiny flowers, tiny baskets, stick pins, bits of whatever you can imagine.
Clay tools to manipulate the saturated fabric or the end of a paintbrush works well
What to wear
Wear comfortable work clothes - the goop doesn't come out of clothing - old gardening clothes could be recycled.
