A 10-Hour Crash Course in Short Story Writing

Presented by a dynamic writing team - Pat Wilson and Kris Wood - who have the experience and background to get you jump-started on your creative writing. You'll learn everything from "How to Write a Compelling Opening", to "How to Make Your Characters Come to Life." Pat and Kris will also show you the secrets that professionals use to proofread and polish their work. They're both accomplished workshop leaders who can guarantee you'll have lots of fun and laughter as well as a first-class hands-on learning experience.

Not only are they published authors in their own rights, but they're also co-authors of many short stories in various magazines and anthologies, as well as authors of three full-length books including their latest mystery published by Rendezvous Press, Toronto, "Lucky Strike". 

Plus, Pat and Kris have put together two special bonuses for their workshop attendees:

*   A dedicated session on "How to Get Published" and,

*   an individual participant's workbook so you can take all the information home with you at the end of the weekend.

8:00 - 10:00 p.m. Introduction to the Program

                                    Writing exercises - plots, characters, formats, outline

Saturday

8:00 am  - 9:00 am Breakfast at the Marquis of Dufferin restaurant, your choice from the a la carte menu.

9:30 am - 12:00 pm     Outlining the short story

                                    Beginning, middle and end

                                    First four lines.

12:00 pm - 1:00 pm     Lunch will be provided at the Balcolm Center

1:00 pm - 2:00 pm       Creative walk (mulling it over time - we'll provide guidelines)

2:00 pm - 5:00 pm       Getting it on paper - the first draft

5:00 pm - 6:00 pm        "Happy Hour" - read-aloud time, talk-it over time.

6:00 pm to 7:30 pm      Dinner, three course dinner of your choice from our menu.

7:30 pm - 8:30 pm        How to Get your story published - "bonus" session
