Take time for yourself and your art Retreat

May 28 through October 14

Take the road less traveled, Nova Scotia's Eastern Shore. Let the landscape be your muse as you explore the rocky shore line of the Atlantic. Stay with us on the seacoast and view the ever changing light and temperament of the ocean. Watch the sun set from your balcony or the brilliant constellations in the night sky. Find your inspiration in the shapes of the rocks, seaweed, or driftwood, the sights and sounds of the sea birds and wildlife or the man made structures: churches, lighthouses, lobster shacks and traps, or boats. Take time for yourself and your art. Let us make your meals and your bed.

May 28, 2010 - October 14,2010 $125.00 per person

Gardian Sculptures with Kristie Sheehy, Sculptor

Saturday, July 10th and Sunday, July 11th, 2010

Gardian Sculptures are so named because they are meant to be placed in a garden setting.

Each sculpture is produced individually beginning with a wire armature in human form. The armature is then built up with metal foil to create a desired shape. Fabric is then saturated in a product called Sculptack which enables these sculptures to be resistant to all weather. The fabric is then wrapped and draped around the sculpture and left to cure for several days on tables or benches so the bottoms are flat.

Once cured, the sculpture can be set in a basin of water for a few minutes to soften the edges of the dress around her bottom making it pliable enough to conform to the shape of a boulder or something not flat. Other than this procedure, the shape of the Gardian cannot be altered. Bending or reshaping the pose will jeopardize the integrity of the sculpture.

After you have chosen a location for your Gardian Sculpture, it may be epoxied in place if theft or dogs are a concern. Other than that, your sculpture is resilient to the outside elements year round.
